FAST-PACED AND FUN WITH A BIG HEART

MIDDLE LIFE is a throwback romantic comedy feature film from Toronto

Starring JULY TALK singers Leah Fay Goldstein – Canadian Screen Award-nominated for her starring turn in DIAMOND TONGUES – and Peter Dreimanis, who made his screen debut in Ryan Coogler's SINNERS.

Andie is a perfectionist wedding planner in her mid-thirties and new mother, who has meticulously crafted her life but still feels unfulfilled. Fresh off maternity leave, she saves Ryan, a blue-collar plumber, from a roadside accident. As their paths intertwine over the next year, her craving for change and his newfound perspective on life spark an unexpected connection, leading them to discover that life could be great.

Pavan (“Pav-in”) Moondi

Writer, Director, Producer, Editor

Pavan previously wrote and directed DIAMOND TONGUES and SUNDOWNERS, co-starring Tim Heidecker. He also wrote on SCHITT’S CREEK and directed a CBC Television series called FOUR IN THE MORNING. He is from Toronto and based in Los Angeles.

Leah Fay Goldstein

“Andie”, Producer

Leah is the co-frontperson of the Juno Award-winning band, JULY TALK. She previously starred in DIAMOND TONGUES, for which she was nominated as Best Actress in a Feature Film at the Canadian Screen Awards.

Peter Dreimanis

“Ryan”, Producer

Peter is a musician, filmmaker, and the co-frontperson of the Juno Award-winning band, JULY TALK. He made his screen debut as an actor in Ryan Coogler’s SINNERS.

Luke Lalonde

“Chris”

Luke is the frontman of the indie rock band, BORN RUFFIANS. He previously starred in Pavan’s 2017 comedy, SUNDOWNERS, co-starring Tim Heidecker.

 

Norah Sadava

“Beth”

Norah Sadava is an award-winning director, writer, and performer, and co-artistic director of Quote Unquote Collective. She co-created and starred in Mouthpiece, an internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning work adapted into a feature film that premiered at TIFF, and continues to create new work for stage and screen.

Colin Burgess

“Dusty”

COLIN BURGESS is an actor, comedian, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He has been performing stand-up comedy for the past 12 years and has been featured in various little videos and series for Adult Swim, Comedy Central, IFC, and Vice. Colin can be seen in feature films like Asking For It, Inspector Ike, Yelling Fire in an Empty Theater, Dad & Step-Dad, and Free Time. Colin did not write this bio, it was written by some other guy.

Jared Raab

Director of Photography, Producer

Jared Raab is a cinematographer, filmmaker, and producer. He won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Cinematography for BLACKBERRY, and recently shot and co-produced NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE.

Ben Fox

Composer

Ben Fox is a Canadian music producer, guitarist, and award-winning composer for film and television, and a three-time Canadian Screen Award nominee. His work spans acclaimed feature films, documentaries, and global commercial campaigns, with screenings at major festivals including TIFF, Tribeca, and BFI London. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Slaight Music Residency, Ben continues to compose for film while collaborating with leading artists and brands.

Dean Perlmutter

Producer

Dean is a veteran film and television producer whose career began as a teenager in the FX department and has since spanned nearly every area of production. His credits include For Heaven’s Sake, Darkest Miriam (Tribeca), Pins & Needles, and numerous feature, documentary, and series projects. His work has been delivered to broadcasters worldwide, including CBC, CBS, National Geographic, Discovery, and the BBC.

”The knits, autumn leaves and christmas coziness of When Harry Met Sally, combined with Friendship/Tim Robinson style bits and comedic camera work, with a sprinkle of Palm Springs fun, zany adventures. A great romcom, with a perfect mix of both genres!

Also, the jazzy score was perfect and the cinematography and color grading was beautiful.
